LOIS S. RUBIN

Lois S. Rubin grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Tufts University with high honors. She has a Master’s Degree from Adeiphi
University and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. Before coming to Buffalo, New York, Lois was the Director of Research and Testing in the Virginia Department of
Education where she supervised all facets of the state-mandated testing of public school students in Virginia, coordinated the research activities of the Virginia Department of Education, and directed the evaluation of various educational programs.

Lois received her law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in May 1994 and was admitted to practice shortly thereafter in 1995. After practicing in various law areas, she opened a law office and concentrated in family and matrimonial law. In 1996, she became a mediator for divorce and family issues. In 1997, she joined the law firm of Pusatier, Sherman, Abbott and Sugarman as a part-time associate. At this firm she has concentrated her practice to writing and reviewing the court orders necessary to distribute the pension benefits of matrimonial clients who have been or will be divorced.

In September 2002, Lois traveled to Canada to obtain training by two experts from California in the practice of Collaborative Law. Again in June 2005, Lois participated in another training session in Collaborative Law. At present, her practice is growing rapidly because more and more people are understanding how Collaborative Law works in settling many types of matrimonial matters and other disputes.
